GUERRILLA GIRLS DESIGN RESEARCH BOOK

INTRO
The "Guerrilla Girls: The Conscience of the Art World" designer study was an in-depth exploration of the biographical and artistic legacy of the activist design group. This project involved extensive research into the group's history and its current impact, embodying the punk/guerrilla essence of these troublemakers to the printed page. Everything about the book showcased the Do-It-Yourself ethos of the punk rock movement: Bitmap textures, Rufina stencil paired with Degular fonts, hot pink marker applied after print, roughened edges frayed by an X-acto blade. All of these elements worked to illustrate the chaos these masked figures used to disrupt the traditional art world. InDesign layouts

CONCLUSION

Creating this book taught me how to be flexible when things go sideways. The original concept called for a saddle stitch layout. Neither a professor nor the print center could help create it. With some quick thinking and inspiration from Professor Susan Laporte, I adjusted the book to be stitched like a perfect bound book.
